Stew of chicken drumsticks with Force Majeure - Kriek

A submission from a customer. The Force Majeure Kriek is deliciously fresh with a sweet and fruity start that gently transitions into a fresh and sour finish. Inspired by the best Belgian beers but alcohol-free. Very mouth-watering, but that's what it tastes like! This caused a customer to start using this to prepare a stew of chicken legs with Force Majeure - Kriek.

Ingredients

  • 2-4 chicken legs (or other chicken parts)
  • 125 grams of bacon bits
  • 1 bottle of Force Majeure - Kriek
  • 2 onions (coarsely chopped)
  • 1 spoonful of flour
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 50 butter
  • oil
  • (Limburg) mustard
  • 1 slice of gingerbread
  • pepper
  • salt
  • chicken seasoning

Preparation

Coarsely chop the onions. Clean the chicken pieces and season lightly with the chicken seasoning. If no chicken seasoning in the house or not a fan, salt and pepper will also suffice.

Melt the butter with a dash of oil in a large casserole dish and sauté the chicken pieces until browned on both sides. This is about 5-10 minutes.

Remove the seared chicken pieces from the casserole and set aside for a moment.

Add the onions to the pan and fry until translucent. Add the bacon bits and fry for a few minutes more. Add the flour and stir. Fry a few minutes more. Add the sprigs of thyme and the bay leaf and add the chicken pieces. If necessary, pour the drained juice from the chicken pieces into the pan.

Now pour the contents of the bottle of Force Majeure - Kriek into the pan with the chicken pieces. The chicken does not have to be completely submerged. Spread the gingerbread slice liberally with mustard and place it, mustard side down, in the casserole. Bring everything to a simmer. Let simmer for about 1.5 hours.

Serve the chicken and pour the stew sauce generously over it. Delicious with fries.

Have a good taste!
