Non-alcoholic Kriek
Unique in flavour and colour is alcohol-free and low-alcohol Kriek. This Belgian beer style was created by enriching lambic beer with cherries (the local name for sour cherries). The fresh-sour taste of kriek is unprecedentedly thirst-quenching and ideal for drinking on a hot afternoon. The deep pink colour makes kriek look extra attractive.
Flavour
Fruity, sweet and refreshing. Kriek is a real summer drink and goes well with salads, brie and brownies. You pour these beers into a glass in one go and swirl them gently, as this is when the aromas really come out. The low-alcohol varieties are just as tasty and thirst-quenching as regular Kriek.
About Kriek
Kriek beers originated at the end of the 19th century when Belgian farmers from the Pajottenland region started adding cherries to lambic beer. The idea was to use fruit to make lambic beer less sour. The popularity of kriek took a big flight because of wealthier Belgians who made trips to the countryside. About 200 grams of morello cherries are added per litre of beer. These are sour red cherries that remain sour even after they have matured. Another beer style based on fruit is Geuze.
