About the brewer
Samuel Smith Old Brewery, popularly known as Samuel Smith's or Sam Smith's, is an independent brewery and pub owner in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England. It is the oldest brewery in Yorkshire, established in 1758. It is also one of only three breweries in the town. Samuel Smith's produces a range of bitters, stouts, porters, lagers and fruit beers. It is known as a very traditional and somewhat eccentric operator of around 200 pubs. This is due to the continued use of horses, a ban on music & mobile devices and also low beer prices.
