About the brewer

The story of Lindemans Brewery begins in the Pajottenland region, where Francisca Josina Vandersmissen was born among hops and barley around 1800. Beer was literally in her blood. Together with Joos Frans Lindemans, she laid the foundations in 1822 for what is now an iconic family brewery: Lindemans Brewery.

Since then, we at Lindemans have been brewing lambic with respect for tradition, but always in our own way. Because we do things differently. Perhaps it has to do with our unique region, the influence of the Senne River, or the mysterious air and winds of the Pajottenland. Whatever the reason, this is where beer with a distinct character is created.

For more than two centuries, craftsmanship, passion, and individuality have been at the heart of what we do. We don't do this alone. Together with a close-knit group of around 50 employees—all of whom are skilled professionals—we form one big family. People who work every day to create the beers we are proud of.
