Nøgne Ø - Himla Humla

Himla Humla which loosely translated means Heavenly Bumblebee is an alcohol-free IPA from brewer Nøgne Ø. This beer is brewed in a special way, as it is a raw ale, meaning that the wort has not boiled during the brewing process.

Boiling in beer brewing has a number of functions, namely disinfection, evaporation of volatile substances and absorption of bitter substances from the hops. What you immediately notice about this beer is that it is not very bitter like you are used to from an IPA. It does have a fine citrus hop scent that comes from adding hops after the fermentation.
fermentation.

Raw Ales originated in the Scandinavian countries due to a lack of expensive metal kettles, so everything was done in wooden barrels that simply cannot take that much heat. Raw Ales are still brewed in remote places around the world when there is a shortage of fuel (for cooking).
